Beep Boop Bitcoin

Bitcoin, and cryptocurrency in general, may be among the most important web-related technology to emerge in recent years, as well as the most controversial. On the one hand, you have people praising it as a herald of freedom from the tyranny of the banking system, and a means to provide ordinary people with wealth. On the other, you have people who see it as little more than a means to facilitate illegal activity, as well as a scam that is wreaking havoc on the environment. To say nothing about other blockchain-fueled technologies that have popped up in its wake (and the less said about NFTs, the better).

This brings us to the website Beep Boop Bitcoin, formed in 2014. At its inception, it only hosted one game, simply called Advanced Bitcoin Simulator. The next year, that game received a sequel, Bitcoin Mining Profit Calculator: Gaiden. At first glance, it may seem like they were made to draw in bitcoin fans, but if you play either of them for any amount of time at all, you will quickly find out that they were made to satirize Bitcoin, particularly by making its users look like at best, a bunch of short-sighted idiots, and at worst, common criminals.
