Curate of Curiosities

Cruise Ship to Nowhere

File not found: rest_of_game.dat

Previously on Escape from Detroit, we tried to take our kid to Detroit to keep him safe from the gang of MS Paint thugs hounding us.

Along the way, we played the knife game, went fishing, confronted our inner samurai, and hijacked a jetski to board a cruise ship.

As soon as we enter the cruise ship, we find a blood stain that triggers a fight when examined.

In another room, there's a pair of drug addicts who attack us for no reason.

On the second floor, we find another "friend."

On the third floor of the cruise ship, there's a hallway that, for some reason slowly gets darker as you walk down it.

At the end, we find the captain. This ship is bound for Detroit, and he's willing to take us there if you give him a joint.

We can easily get one from the dealer in front of the dispensary. While we're here, why not pick up a medical card?

Oh no. The medical card we bought from the shady guy in a trenchcoat turned out to be a fake. Who could have possibly foreseen this?

Matt doesn't take this obvious deception well, and attacks him.

Now that we have our weed, we can take it back to the captain.

We can't set sail just yet, cause now the captain wants some vodka.

Fortunately, all it takes is a short trip back to the first floor.

If you're wondering how someone who is on both weed and alcohol can possibly take us to Detroit, then don't worry.

Other than being briefly hung over, he's perfectly fine.

With that, it's finally time to head to Detroit.

Oh and by the way Matt
I want you to remember this for the rest of the game.
Matt: Game?
Captain: things wont end up pretty Matt.
Matt: what the hell are you talking about?
this is only the intro, into the chaos.
and im the king in the castle!

And then the conversation starts again. There's no way to exit it, and there's no way to progress. The game has been softlocked.

Even if you could get past it, this as as far as the game has been coded. I looked through the game's source code, and although there are two more areas listed after this, they are not accessible, and even if they were, there's nothing in them for you to interact with.

For all intents and purposes, this is the end of the game.
