December 28, 2025
Just finished The Reconstruction. This was more exhausting than I thought it would be. Not because the game is bad, but because I had more to say about it than usual.
December 14, 2025
We're now officially in The Reconstruction's endgame! We've put an end to the war and passed the gods' test! Nothing can stop us now!
December 10, 2025
Like I said, chapter 5 of The Reconstruction is practically done. In it, we fight a superboss that looks more like a marketable plushie, and completely fail to stop a war.
December 4, 2025
Just wrapped up chapter 5. Looks like this is going to be another two-parter, maybe a three-parter.
November 28, 2025
You know how your parents told you that babies grow in cabbage patches? What? They never told you anything like that? Well, in chapter 4 of The Reconstruction, we find out that this is sort of the case for the Shra, except much more horrifying.
November 17, 2025
Now to start chapter 4 for real. Looks like we've got a new client, one who's even more morally questionable than the last one!
November 11, 2025
I'm sure you've noticed that the pages for each the first three chapters of The Reconstruction are already a bit on the long side. Well, chapter 4 has a lot going on, in both story and side content, so I'm considering making its writeup a two-parter.
November 2, 2025
Looks like we have another settlement for the Six Stars guild to grace with its presence! But before that, we need to catch up with that one guy from the prologue, see if he's still kicking.
October 27, 2025
Just finished the third chapter of The Reconstruction. In this chapter, our guild goes on the run from the law and seeks refuge in a town whose authorities actually want to kill one of the guild members, as well as the techbro sheltering them!
October 20, 2025
It's been more than a year, but I've managed to gain non-region blocked access to a number of European comics, including some with English translations! So what do I go with first? Well, since I've showcased several works of Canadian origin over the past few months, I think I'll go on with that one Quebecois comic that managed to picked up all the way in Belgium.
October 13, 2025
All right, it seems that things are starting to pick up, so here's more of The Reconstructon, featuring more squad members, more errands, and more discussion of fantasy race relations.
October 3, 2025
That's the first chapter of The Reconstruction written up. I've gotten past the point where I bounced off the very first time I played it, but this time, I think I have a better handle on things.
September 20, 2025
Just finished the prologue for The Reconstruction. Fun fact, the game is made with RPG Maker XP, the exact same engine used to make Garbage Pigeons.
September 15, 2025
So...I hear today's the 10th anniversary of this one indie RPG that's about being a pacifist. In honor of that, I'm going to...start on a completely unrelated RPG whose main character happens to be a pacifist.
September 2, 2025
At last we have my final thoughts on the games developed by Danny "The D" Bourque. Maybe I should have told you his name sooner, but you might have been able to tell if you payed close attention to the screenshots. Boy, documenting his games took me a bit shorter than I expected it to.
August 24, 2025
Just published my final words on Longstory. Like the game itself, it's really nothing special.
August 18, 2025
So it looks like there's one thing in The D's games that I forgot to document, and that's the postgame bonus dungeon in Skylight 1. Here it is.
August 12, 2025
After half a year, I've finally finished my documentation of Dragoon Entertainment's games. Of course it ends in the same place where it began: with the indie gaming equivalent of The Room.
August 10, 2025
So, regarding The D's games, I'm nearly done with the writeup of his most recent games (as well as The Demon Rush's endgame). I feel like this will be on par with my Taming Dreams writeup from last year.
August 7, 2025
So I finished Longstory. It may be because I'm not part of its target audience, but I didn't really feel this one compared to the other visual novels I've showcased. Here's the writeup.
July 29, 2025
Nearly done with Longstory. Hard to believe that I'm already this close to the end. We run into another mystery, but because we're almost at the end of the game, that gets resolved immediately.
July 27, 2025
Just polished off the last of the screenshots and footage for Dragoon Entertainment. The footage is already uploaded to IA.
July 23, 2025
Played some more Longstory. Featuring: a blatant self-insert that you can't actually date, but can hit on. They've even got their own musical number.
July 14, 2025
Don't think that I've forgotten about The D and his games. Just because some of his later games are no longer available for purchase, doesn't mean I can't get something out of them. Didn't think that I'd end up playing that one game from that one trailer from years back, even if only in demo form?
June 23, 2025
Yes, it's another episode of that dating sim. The game just remembered that it has a lesson to teach its young players, so now it's trying to fast-track getting the mystery solved by bringing in the person in the center of it. Hard to believe I'm already more than halfway through.
June 14, 2025
Yep, more Longstory. We set this mystery thing aside for now and decide to relive the middle school memories the devs probably wish they had.
June 2, 2025
Yep, I'm still playing Longstory. In this episode, we get a bit closer to uncovering the truth about our locker's previous owner...or maybe not.
May 23, 2025
So...how about those Canadian visual novels? Here's the first episode of Longstory. Sure, it may be a finished product, unlike the other episodic games I've showcased, but for some reason, I have my doubts as to whether I'll actually finish this
May 20, 2025
It's been a while, but I've relased another major update to Trial Of The Hierarch! Now with more than one shot type, like a proper shmup!
May 11, 2025
Like I said a couple weeks ago, I'll be taking a break from Dragoon Entertainment's portfolio. So here's Longstory, something that's also made in Canada that's (hopefully) nowhere near as wretched.
April 25, 2025
Good news: I've uploaded the writeup for the second half of Skylight 2. Better news: I'm over the last major hump in documenting The D's games!
April 19, 2025
So...I've beaten Skylight 2. It may be the most irritating indie RPG that I've ever played, even more so than the game that's deliberately meant to be irritating. Writeup coming soon.
On that note, if you feel masochistic enough to suffer through The D's games yourself, then don't worry! I've just uploaded his first three games to the Internet Archive.
April 14, 2025
As you probably expected, here's the writeup for Skylight 2. I might be the very first person to ever document more than the first five minutes of this game.
April 1, 2025
Oh, it's April Fools. Here's a joke, Skylight has a sequel and I'm currently playing through it!
March 23, 2025
I may be the very first person in more than a decade to finish the deeply cursed artifact that is Dragoon Entertainment's Skylight. At least it's better put together than The Demon Rush.
March 17, 2025
On to Skylight, The D's second game. I might be the second person in the whole world to document this. It's like The Demon Rush, but with more guns and the characters all have normal names.
March 11, 2025
So I managed to crack The Demon Rush wide open (quite easily in fact), and unsurprisingly, the game's about as poorly built as it looks. Come check out what I found here.
March 2, 2025
Here's the writeup for Liberal Crime Squad, the game adaptation of my social media feeds, because we can't go one week without its premise suddenly becoming timely.
February 28, 2025
So it turns out, I'm not very good at roguelikes, especially those as feature-dense as Bay12's games, so my playthrough of Liberal Crime Squad was sadly short-lived. Writeup coming soon.
February 23, 2025
So, regarding The Demon Rush, obviously it's a poorly optimized pile of garbage, but I just rediscovered a certain utility that allows me to take a much closer look at what makes the game tick.
And another thing, I just made a major update to the shmup I was making, now with reworked mechanics and a rebalanced scoring system.
February 17, 2025
So I started playing The Demon Rush. It looks and sounds like crap, it makes no sense at all, and it plays like pulling teeth, so the only thing it was ever good for was memes.
February 10, 2025
Tired of all the actually well-made indie RPGs showcased? Come see the page for Dragoon Entertainment for some good old-fashioned kuso! Currently I'm playing through this dev's earliest game, and I can tell you I'd much rather be playing Deliverance or even Cornwall's early Yalort-centered games than this.
January 27, 2025
Just uploaded the page on Bay 12's earliest games: WWI Medic and Slaves To Armok: God Of Blood. These are two 20-year-old games that somehow still work on my Windows 11 device. Whether they're still in a playable state is another matter.
January 12, 2025
Just published my final words on I Hate You, Please Suffer. So that makes the third full-length indie RPG showcased on this site.
January 7, 2025
Latest update for I Hate You, Please Suffer: I beat the game, you guys! Not just that, but I uploaded the final boss footage to the Internet Archive!
